About
This is the blog for Elvis’ Grave, a film that was born in the deep dark recesses of the mind of David W. Hughens and raised in the gothic south around the year 1988. What began as an exercise in twisted satire grew into the full length feature film known as Elvis’ Grave. A Southern Gothic Horror Comedy Musical, its Viva Las Vegas meets Rocky Horror Picture Show with a little bit of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Filmed guerilla style, on a trailer park budget — it is amazing this film even made it into the can. From lawsuits to bad partnerships to tornadoes and bible-thumpin’ protestors, Elvis’ Grave had its fair share of trials and tribulations. But from the beginning this little film had a life of its own and that is why almost twenty years later it is coming back from the grave. Follow the trail of gory details as this zombie lurches back to life, seeking its rightful place among the legends in the low budget cult of schlock hall of shame.

My father,Danny Scogin, was in your movie! Sadly Dad passed away in 2003. I was wondering if you might have photos of him from the set. My sister has ordered copies of the movie for me, my brother Chris and herself, but I am still interested in any photos that you might have.
Daddy really enjoyed the time spent with all of you guys, it was really a fantastic time in his life. I really love seeing his photo on the cover of the DVD. I can’t say thank you enough for immortalizing him this way.

Hi, I’m Kim Traylor’s sister. I wanted to add my thanks also. It was wonderful to see your web site. My son , unknown to me, kept searching over the years and found the site. He ordered the DVD for me. Daddy would have been so happy to see that it made it out. He had so much fun with all of you guys while making it. I am looking forward to seeing it for the first time. Again, thank you, I’m sure Daddy and Elvis are sitting somewhere having a beer to toast this making it out. Good luck with the sales, we are giving out your web site to anyone who knew him. Hope it will help sales.
Thanks again!

Dave, I can’t remember but was your film done in Alabama? Years ago a friend of mine and I were eating lunch at a McDonald’s in Birmingham and an Elvis impersonator came in with a couple of other people promoting YOUR movie. And we got to go to the debut of it for free. It was just too funny. Now I work in the Karaoke business and you would not believe the Elvis impersonators I encounter. I loved your movie. I voted it for it and I am going to order a DVD. If you want, email me and we will talk about the difference between “Impersonators” and Tribute Artists
